[00:00:16] We don't listen to an in if the charge for The Outlaws

[00:00:30] Merry Christmas, welcome to The Outlaws

[00:00:32] This is Darvi O'Kane Penmar along side Robin O'Malley and Dante Bry

[00:00:50] Miss O'Malley, how are you?

[00:00:55] Um, in the current moment I'm cool

[00:00:59] I actually took me a little cat nap so I had a mean headache Darvi O'Kane Penmar

[00:01:05] So I had to take me a nap because I would have been mean, you know, so

[00:01:09] I hate when my head hurts man

[00:01:12] Like that sucks

[00:01:13] Like I absolutely hate when my head hurts

[00:01:17] Yeah, I was at work

[00:01:18] I was sitting at work and I ain't have nothing to take

[00:01:21] And so I was sitting there for like an hour

[00:01:24] And it just was like slowly progressively like getting worse

[00:01:28] And I'm like, I just know this headache about to be horrible

[00:01:33] Yeah

[00:01:34] It definitely was

[00:01:35] I'm like, I need to lay down

[00:01:36] I feel like I'm about to throw up

[00:01:37] Yeah

[00:01:38] Well and it's crazy too because you know, sometimes I do

[00:01:41] Like I get, I get tension headaches quite a bit sometimes

[00:01:45] And for somebody who gets tension headaches I'm always hitting my head

[00:01:48] And it drives me crazy

[00:01:50] Like there'll be times where like I get in a car and accidentally hit my head

[00:01:54] And I'm like, like, I'm just hitting my head

[00:01:57] Like, and it's been like this forever

[00:01:59] Like I was in the fourth grade I think

[00:02:02] Uh, I'll never forget this

[00:02:04] This is how long ago this was

[00:02:06] I was in Kmart

[00:02:07] I was in the Super Kmart in Euclid, Ohio

[00:02:11] And I was running down the aisle and slipped and hit my head

[00:02:17] Man

[00:02:17] Dang, boy

[00:02:18] That was the most painful thing in the world

[00:02:20] And I don't think there was a

[00:02:22] I don't think it was a slippery sign on there either

[00:02:25] My mama should have sued

[00:02:27] She should have

[00:02:29] Dang, opportunity missed

[00:02:34] Dante, how are you, sir?

[00:02:35] I am good

[00:02:36] We getting closer to Christmas

[00:02:39] It's cold

[00:02:39] It was snowing out by me

[00:02:41] Feel like Christmas outside

[00:02:42] So I'm, I'm happy

[00:02:44] I'm, uh, time for time off work

[00:02:49] Sports and everybody to leave everybody else alone

[00:02:54] Now, and I'll say this

[00:02:55] I ain't gonna put your business out there

[00:02:56] So I ain't gonna say what area you live in

[00:02:58] But the area that you live in

[00:02:59] Is a beautiful

[00:03:00] That is a beautiful place

[00:03:02] I see it all the time

[00:03:03] I say it all the time

[00:03:04] That's a beautiful place

[00:03:05] But the reason why I can't be number one

[00:03:08] And really probably the only reason why I would never live there

[00:03:12] Is cause y'all get too much damn snow

[00:03:15] Way too much snow

[00:03:16] Way too much snow

[00:03:18] And it hadn't even been that bad the last few years

[00:03:22] But, man, we can, it's making up for it

[00:03:25] Like we making up for it

[00:03:28] Right now

[00:03:30] These last two weeks

[00:03:31] For what we haven't gotten I guess in the last like three years

[00:03:36] Yeah, man

[00:03:37] It'd be getting whacked

[00:03:38] And it's so crazy

[00:03:39] And it's so crazy because like

[00:03:40] The Cleveland area is so, it's so interesting

[00:03:44] Because people will think about like Cleveland

[00:03:47] Or the Cleveland area as snow

[00:03:50] But it's not always like that

[00:03:52] It's not even

[00:03:53] Like there are times on the east side

[00:03:55] Where the east side folks get hammered

[00:03:57] Yeah

[00:03:58] And then folks on the west side get nothing

[00:04:02] Right, that's what I just said last time

[00:04:04] I said, well, the grass greener over here

[00:04:06] I don't know

[00:04:09] Yeah

[00:04:10] And then it

[00:04:12] Then sometimes

[00:04:13] Y'all say y'all get snow

[00:04:14] And I be like, I ain't got nothing

[00:04:16] So I don't really know how this works

[00:04:18] All I know is when they say lake effect

[00:04:20] I'm in the house

[00:04:23] Yeah, man, that's everybody's like

[00:04:25] It's so funny too because like when I was a kid

[00:04:28] The one thing you was waiting to hear

[00:04:31] Was lake effect

[00:04:32] Right

[00:04:32] Because if you heard lake effect that mean no school today

[00:04:36] Exactly

[00:04:37] Now the tables have turned

[00:04:38] Oh my God

[00:04:39] Now as an adult, as soon as you hear lake effect

[00:04:42] You're like, damn it

[00:04:44] Yeah, because we don't get days off

[00:04:47] Right

[00:04:49] Listen, listen

[00:04:50] Or we don't get holidays

[00:04:53] Or any of that

[00:04:54] We don't get that off

[00:04:55] Like for example, my kids

[00:04:57] They just went on break as of today

[00:04:59] And I'm like, well y'all get to sleep in Monday morning

[00:05:06] Must be nice

[00:05:08] Who is

[00:05:09] We don't

[00:05:11] I ain't going to work on the holidays

[00:05:13] Well, I don't work on holidays

[00:05:15] But as far as like

[00:05:17] Like snow days

[00:05:18] Throughout the week

[00:05:19] Like

[00:05:20] Leading up to

[00:05:21] Because you ain't going to have Monday off

[00:05:23] Who not?

[00:05:25] You going

[00:05:28] Speak for yourself

[00:05:30] Who not?

[00:05:32] You going to have Monday off?

[00:05:34] And Tuesday

[00:05:35] And Wednesday

[00:05:37] That's crazy

[00:05:39] I feel like I'm like you right now

[00:05:43] That's why I said

[00:05:44] Who you got to speak for yourself

[00:05:46] I'm weak

[00:05:48] Dante ain't messing around

[00:05:50] Well, I got work Monday

[00:05:55] But it is

[00:05:56] It's crazy, man

[00:05:58] It's just like the stuff that you have to do as an adult

[00:06:02] In the snow

[00:06:03] Is just obviously completely different than a kid

[00:06:07] I remember

[00:06:08] I think it was like two weeks ago

[00:06:11] Two or three weeks ago

[00:06:12] My mother and I were coming back from Columbus

[00:06:16] And

[00:06:17] Everything was cool

[00:06:19] You know that drive, Dante

[00:06:21] 71

[00:06:23] 71, straight shot, everything cool

[00:06:26] Hit Medina

[00:06:28] Couldn't see nothing

[00:06:30] It was a whiteout

[00:06:32] I have never driven anything like that before

[00:06:35] I was like

[00:06:35] This is insane

[00:06:39] Like how do you

[00:06:41] And there's people

[00:06:42] Like it was

[00:06:42] It was 18 wheelers

[00:06:44] That was driving like it was nothing

[00:06:45] Like they you

[00:06:46] I'm like man, how do you drive in this?

[00:06:49] Yeah, you got to pull over

[00:06:51] Man

[00:06:53] And my mama

[00:06:55] My mama's so crazy

[00:06:57] She didn't bother her

[00:06:58] She like

[00:07:00] Get over

[00:07:01] Get in the lines

[00:07:02] I'm like I can't see the lines

[00:07:04] Right

[00:07:04] I don't know where the lines are

[00:07:08] Right

[00:07:09] Once you

[00:07:09] Once you can't see that's when it's time to pull over

[00:07:12] I can drive it almost anything

[00:07:13] But once I

[00:07:14] Once that

[00:07:16] It's a whiteout and it's almost like

[00:07:17] Oh, I can't see nothing

[00:07:19] Oh, absolutely

[00:07:21] Wait for this to slack up because I ain't

[00:07:22] I'm not

[00:07:24] Russian nowhere in no weather like that

[00:07:27] So

[00:07:28] Nah

[00:07:29] No chance

[00:07:30] No, no chance

[00:07:31] Once you can't see

[00:07:33] Even in

[00:07:34] Even when it start raining real bad

[00:07:36] Like we know we

[00:07:37] When it's raining and you on the highway

[00:07:38] And then you getting a big heavy raindrops

[00:07:40] You can't really see nothing

[00:07:42] Nah

[00:07:43] I'm not

[00:07:44] I ain't

[00:07:45] Bashful about

[00:07:46] Nope, we just gonna just wait this

[00:07:48] This little thing out

[00:07:49] On at 15

[00:07:51] 15-20 minutes

[00:07:52] I'm cool because I'm not

[00:07:54] No

[00:07:54] Nah

[00:07:54] And I can

[00:07:55] I'm

[00:07:55] Like I said, you know

[00:07:57] I done drove from Cleveland to Columbus and back

[00:08:00] Thousand times

[00:08:01] Hundreds of times, right

[00:08:02] But I'm not

[00:08:03] Once it starts snowing like that

[00:08:05] On the freeway

[00:08:05] Cause that's the other thing

[00:08:07] When you

[00:08:07] Whether you in a car or a truck

[00:08:10] Them semis

[00:08:11] They don't slow down

[00:08:12] At all

[00:08:13] They be like, oh yeah, it's time to go now

[00:08:15] So I'm

[00:08:16] Definitely not taking no chances with one of them

[00:08:21] And I think I told y'all, man

[00:08:22] I got off the highway

[00:08:24] I was like, you know what?

[00:08:26] Even though I know this is gonna add to my travel time

[00:08:28] I'm like, I got gas

[00:08:30] I'm taking the street back

[00:08:33] I got in

[00:08:34] I was in Medina County

[00:08:35] I got off the highway

[00:08:36] And I took the street all the way back to Cleveland

[00:08:37] I'm like, I'm not playing with y'all

[00:08:40] I'm like, I'm not doing

[00:08:41] Cause that's the one

[00:08:42] Like you said Dante

[00:08:43] When you can't see

[00:08:46] What else are you supposed to do?

[00:08:48] And I told my mother

[00:08:49] I said, I ain't never drove nothing like this before

[00:08:51] And of course

[00:08:52] You know how these old school mothers

[00:08:53] She's like, I have

[00:08:54] I've done that a bunch of times

[00:08:55] I'm like, well

[00:08:57] I ain't drove

[00:09:03] I'm like, man

[00:09:04] But you know

[00:09:06] You know how it is

[00:09:07] You know how these mothers

[00:09:08] Especially these old school mothers

[00:09:09] They're like, oh that ain't nothing

[00:09:11] Oh yeah

[00:09:12] Back in my day

[00:09:14] I'm like, mm-mm

[00:09:15] Absolutely not

[00:09:16] I'm like, I am getting off this highway

[00:09:18] This is not happening

[00:09:19] But

[00:09:20] When you was a kid

[00:09:21] Man, you wouldn't even think

[00:09:22] Like, you see the snow

[00:09:24] You just think about snow day

[00:09:26] And

[00:09:27] You get to go play

[00:09:28] And then when I got

[00:09:29] When I became a teenager

[00:09:30] It was like, alright

[00:09:31] I gotta show

[00:09:33] That was it

[00:09:36] Mm-hmm

[00:09:37] But now we gotta work

[00:09:39] And drive

[00:09:39] And

[00:09:41] Ugh

[00:09:43] So I'll be like, man

[00:09:44] Dante

[00:09:44] And as much as you don't like the snow

[00:09:46] I don't

[00:09:47] I don't know how you maintain

[00:09:51] It's brutal

[00:09:52] But like you said

[00:09:52] For eight

[00:09:54] Months out of the year

[00:09:55] It's wonderful here

[00:09:56] Oh

[00:09:56] Beautiful

[00:09:57] Like it's absolutely

[00:09:59] Like it's a

[00:10:00] I was over there

[00:10:02] A few months ago

[00:10:03] And just looking around

[00:10:05] Like it's a really

[00:10:06] Beautiful area

[00:10:07] Oh yeah

[00:10:08] You got a bunch of wineries

[00:10:09] A little bit farther north

[00:10:10] Yep

[00:10:11] Especially in the summertime

[00:10:12] Yeah

[00:10:13] Yeah, but that

[00:10:15] Y'all make up for it though, man

[00:10:17] Cause I

[00:10:18] There was one area

[00:10:20] And this

[00:10:22] This is further out

[00:10:23] In Ohio

[00:10:25] I forget what county it is

[00:10:26] I think it was Ashtabula

[00:10:27] Where they had so much snow

[00:10:29] They shut the highway down

[00:10:31] Well they got over 50 inches

[00:10:34] Oh my god

[00:10:36] Is that where the

[00:10:37] The roof caved in?

[00:10:39] Yes

[00:10:41] In that high school, yeah

[00:10:42] It was a high school, I think, right?

[00:10:44] That's what I heard, yeah

[00:10:45] Yeah, they got well over 50 inches

[00:10:48] 50 inches

[00:10:49] That's like

[00:10:50] That's like buffalo

[00:10:52] Yeah

[00:10:52] It's you right there

[00:10:54] I mean, shoot

[00:10:54] If you have Ashtabula

[00:10:55] You might as well be in Erie

[00:10:57] Yeah

[00:10:57] My oldest sister

[00:10:59] She lives out that way

[00:11:00] She was like

[00:11:01] We are completely snowed in

[00:11:03] Yeah

[00:11:04] Like what do you even do?

[00:11:07] Like how do you even dig yourself out?

[00:11:09] No, you might as well wait

[00:11:12] Like the city have to do that

[00:11:14] At that point

[00:11:15] Might as well wait

[00:11:16] But they, I mean they prepare for it

[00:11:17] Like you live on a

[00:11:18] If you, you know, live in Erie, PA

[00:11:21] Or Buffalo

[00:11:23] You know, you get three or four of those a year

[00:11:25] So they, you know, they got snow blowers

[00:11:27] They got all that

[00:11:28] They ready for it

[00:11:30] I think that

[00:11:31] Oh

[00:11:32] I think I've asked you this before

[00:11:35] Do you have any family in Buffalo

[00:11:37] Or is all your folks from the city?

[00:11:39] Oh no, my family was from the city

[00:11:41] So what is, what's New York City weather like?

[00:11:45] It changes a lot

[00:11:47] Cause you know, you got the river and then the water

[00:11:50] But

[00:11:53] It's so weird in the summertime

[00:11:55] Like the last time I was there was in the summer

[00:11:57] This was maybe about a year ago

[00:11:59] No, the time before that

[00:12:00] And it's like

[00:12:01] It was warm all day

[00:12:03] But then at night it was like

[00:12:04] Man, it's cold as hell out here

[00:12:06] Cause the weather

[00:12:08] Like they say, you need to bring

[00:12:09] My cousin was like

[00:12:11] Make sure you bring your jacket

[00:12:13] Your sunglasses

[00:12:16] Your jacket, your sunglasses

[00:12:18] And an umbrella

[00:12:19] Just to be safe

[00:12:21] It's like it can change at any time

[00:12:23] But it snows

[00:12:25] But I don't think it's snow like it snow here

[00:12:28] Yeah

[00:12:29] I don't believe it snows like it snows here

[00:12:31] But I

[00:12:32] I've never been caught in like

[00:12:35] Any snow in New York

[00:12:37] So I don't know

[00:12:38] But I'm guessing that it's probably like about downtown

[00:12:41] But probably on a wider scale where it's like

[00:12:44] Yeah, you may get some flurries or it may come down

[00:12:46] But it don't really

[00:12:47] It doesn't really snow like that

[00:12:49] But it, you know, they get snow for sure

[00:12:51] Yeah, I remember that was one of the things

[00:12:54] When

[00:12:55] Donovan Mitchell came to the Cavs

[00:12:57] And everybody was talking about

[00:12:58] Oh, he's not going to want to play here

[00:13:00] He's not going to want to be in the cold weather

[00:13:02] Like from New York

[00:13:03] Like it's not like he's not used

[00:13:05] He's never had cold weather before

[00:13:07] Yeah, they definitely see snow

[00:13:09] Like he and nobody that like grew up in New York

[00:13:13] I would venture to say probably if you grew up in New York State

[00:13:15] Anywhere

[00:13:17] You wouldn't be able to say like

[00:13:18] Oh, I've never seen snow

[00:13:19] Because I mean what part of New York State

[00:13:23] Doesn't it snow like it?

[00:13:24] You know, you go up north

[00:13:26] Or upstate as they call it

[00:13:28] And you talking about like Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester

[00:13:31] Like, oh, it's a town up there

[00:13:33] And then like if you in the city like

[00:13:36] Okay, or like maybe the middle part of the state

[00:13:38] We know I'm sure it snows

[00:13:40] Maybe not a lot

[00:13:41] Because there's no water

[00:13:42] But I'm sure it snows

[00:13:43] But then you know, if you in the city

[00:13:45] Or in one of the boroughs

[00:13:47] Like, of course it's snow

[00:13:49] You've seen snow before

[00:13:50] So yeah, I never understood that

[00:13:52] When people would say that about Donovan Mitchell

[00:13:55] It's like, come on, hey, from New York State

[00:13:57] Like, of course he's seen snow before

[00:13:59] That's not a big deal

[00:13:59] And remember before that he played in Utah

[00:14:02] Right

[00:14:03] Where you know it's snow

[00:14:05] Right

[00:14:06] And like, I remember he did this interview

[00:14:07] And he was like

[00:14:09] Because of course it was

[00:14:10] You know what I'm saying

[00:14:11] Well, he wants to be closer to home

[00:14:13] He was like, well, I'm closer to home anyway

[00:14:15] In Cleveland

[00:14:16] Because Cleveland to New York

[00:14:18] Is a lot closer than Utah to New York

[00:14:19] Right, right

[00:14:21] Depending on how you drive

[00:14:22] You know, some people say

[00:14:23] Oh, it's an eight hour drive

[00:14:24] Some people say it's a six hour drive

[00:14:26] I guess it depends on how you drive

[00:14:28] Going to New York?

[00:14:30] Right

[00:14:30] Definitely an eight hour drive for me

[00:14:33] I don't know how long it is for God's sake

[00:14:35] Some people say it's a six hour drive

[00:14:37] I haven't driven in a long time

[00:14:39] Yeah, but you get there in six hours

[00:14:41] I can't imagine how fast you're going

[00:14:43] If you get there in six hours

[00:14:44] Right

[00:14:45] I'm not driving that

[00:14:47] Let's just get on a plane

[00:14:48] It's two hours in New York

[00:14:54] I've driven to New York

[00:14:55] I've driven through New York

[00:14:57] I've never driven to New York

[00:14:58] Yeah

[00:14:59] And I've flown

[00:15:03] When I went to the East Coast

[00:15:04] I wasn't going to New York

[00:15:06] I went to New Jersey

[00:15:09] Because I had a connecting flight to DC

[00:15:12] And I think I've said this on the show before

[00:15:15] Newark Airport is the worst airport I've ever been in

[00:15:18] It's a terrible one

[00:15:21] Last time I went to New York

[00:15:23] I almost died

[00:15:25] Really?

[00:15:26] Really?

[00:15:27] Yes

[00:15:29] I drove

[00:15:30] It was me and the designer that

[00:15:34] From the billboard

[00:15:35] Oh yeah, you were in Times Square

[00:15:37] That's right

[00:15:38] Yeah, and I was driving

[00:15:42] And I think

[00:15:44] So the semi

[00:15:46] Obviously

[00:15:46] It's just a parent

[00:15:49] So I'm pretty sure it was a woman

[00:15:53] But she did not use her turn signal

[00:15:56] And I was all

[00:15:57] I was all the way in the far left lane

[00:16:02] So there was nowhere to go

[00:16:03] I couldn't go anywhere

[00:16:05] Wow

[00:16:05] And she decided she was going to switch over

[00:16:09] I had no time to like back up

[00:16:11] There was nowhere to back up to

[00:16:12] No where to speed up to

[00:16:13] No, I couldn't move

[00:16:15] In time

[00:16:16] Like she just

[00:16:17] She just immediately

[00:16:18] Came over into my lane

[00:16:22] And I had

[00:16:24] I went into the ditch

[00:16:25] Off the freeway

[00:16:28] I ended up in the ditch

[00:16:29] Off the freeway

[00:16:31] Oh hell no

[00:16:32] Oh my what the?

[00:16:36] Talking about the bad today

[00:16:38] I'm so glad that I have

[00:16:42] Good

[00:16:44] Reaction

[00:16:44] Good reflex

[00:16:46] Because otherwise

[00:16:47] Yeah, yeah, would have been there for you girl

[00:16:51] Oh my God

[00:16:53] Dante, have you been in Newark, New Jersey's airport?

[00:16:57] Yes, a third world country

[00:16:58] I've

[00:16:59] I flew in there once

[00:17:00] But I don't fly in a Newark anymore

[00:17:03] I'm just

[00:17:04] Fly me to JFK or really LaGuardia after they redid LaGuardia is so much better

[00:17:08] But yeah, I don't

[00:17:10] Newark is terrible

[00:17:11] I would prefer never to step foot in New Jersey ever

[00:17:17] I would prefer never to step foot in New Jersey like ever

[00:17:22] No, I got family in New Jersey

[00:17:25] We normally, and we used to go to New Jersey quite a bit

[00:17:28] We would normally drive

[00:17:31] Cause it ain't that bad of a drive

[00:17:33] So we would normally drive or whatever

[00:17:36] But

[00:17:36] Man, when I had to catch that connecting flight to DC

[00:17:40] And it was through Newark

[00:17:42] Oh my

[00:17:44] Newark is literally the hood

[00:17:46] It's a big ass hood

[00:17:49] Like

[00:17:50] It's like a big city of hood

[00:17:52] I like Jersey

[00:17:54] I was in the nice area of Jersey

[00:17:58] Of course I had another time where I almost died

[00:18:00] But that wasn't my fault

[00:18:02] I wasn't even driving actually

[00:18:04] I was back then

[00:18:05] It's a dump

[00:18:10] Jersey was pretty nice

[00:18:11] The people were not, not all of them

[00:18:14] New Jersey is the classic little brother city

[00:18:17] Or a little brother state, I'm sorry

[00:18:21] Classic

[00:18:21] You could tell

[00:18:22] You could tell it's people from New York

[00:18:23] Cause the way the New York people talk about New Jersey is wild to me

[00:18:27] I remember when I stayed there

[00:18:29] People moved there

[00:18:30] I think people, a lot of New Yorkers will move to Jersey

[00:18:33] Especially be, you know, because you get like

[00:18:35] I guess it's cheaper

[00:18:36] Cheaper to live

[00:18:39] Taxes, all that type of stuff

[00:18:40] But like, you know

[00:18:43] I think people do that out of necessity

[00:18:45] I don't think people do that because like

[00:18:47] Oh, Jersey is so nice

[00:18:51] I don't think people have been to Jersey and been like

[00:18:52] Wow, this is

[00:18:53] This is really nice

[00:18:54] Jersey shorts, pretty nice

[00:18:56] No

[00:18:59] It was nice last, I mean

[00:19:00] Wait, wait, wait

[00:19:02] Hold on, hold on Robin, hold on

[00:19:04] Wait a minute Dante, you're a gambler

[00:19:05] You don't like Atlantic City?

[00:19:07] No, Atlantic City is a dump

[00:19:10] It might have been nice

[00:19:11] Now, maybe Atlantic City was nice back in the day

[00:19:14] But not, you know

[00:19:16] But I think they said once Atlantic City

[00:19:19] You know, a lot of stuff is boarded up now

[00:19:22] And I guess they're trying to, you know

[00:19:24] Bring it back, but it's harder

[00:19:26] It's so much harder

[00:19:28] To bring back

[00:19:30] A place like Atlantic City when gambling is legal everywhere now

[00:19:35] Yeah

[00:19:35] So like it used to, I guess when Atlantic City

[00:19:38] Because my grandmother would tell me stuff about Atlantic City

[00:19:41] And I guess AC was cool back in the day for them

[00:19:46] Because, you know, it was the only spot where you could go to a casino

[00:19:50] Right

[00:19:51] But now, you know, you can go to a casino anywhere

[00:19:56] So like, is Atlantic City really that nice?

[00:19:58] And then I heard Atlantic City started to go downhill

[00:20:02] when they took away smoking

[00:20:04] You couldn't smoke in there

[00:20:05] Because it was supposed to be like East Coast Vegas

[00:20:07] But if you can't smoke in there, you know, a lot of people aren't going to go

[00:20:11] Right

[00:20:12] Right, right

[00:20:13] Yeah, you know, and that's a very good point too

[00:20:18] You've seen this

[00:20:19] Even to some extent

[00:20:20] It had a little bit of an impact on Vegas

[00:20:22] But just a smaller impact

[00:20:24] Because Vegas is such a destination city

[00:20:27] Right

[00:20:28] But when you have casinos everywhere

[00:20:33] Like it's different

[00:20:34] Like I remember

[00:20:35] There were when we were trying to pass it here in Ohio

[00:20:39] One of the groups that were lobbying the most against it

[00:20:43] Were groups connected to casino interests in Michigan

[00:20:47] Yeah

[00:20:49] Because they knew, right?

[00:20:51] Like there was a lot of Cleveland people

[00:20:53] Who would go to the MGM in Detroit

[00:20:56] Right

[00:20:56] Well, if you have casinos here

[00:21:02] You know what I mean?

[00:21:03] It's different

[00:21:04] Right

[00:21:06] And you know, the craziest thing about

[00:21:11] Vegas, like you said, it's such a destination

[00:21:13] And they were trying to do that with it

[00:21:16] With Atlantic City

[00:21:17] But it's a little harder when like Vegas is Vegas

[00:21:21] So like you can go to more shows in Vegas

[00:21:26] There's more properties

[00:21:27] The weather is always nice, right?

[00:21:29] That's a big thing for Vegas, right?

[00:21:31] Like even in the wintertime, it's a destination

[00:21:33] You really want to go to Atlantic City right now?

[00:21:37] You know what I'm saying? Like it's cold

[00:21:39] It's cold

[00:21:40] In Vegas, you know, it probably doesn't go below 55 degrees

[00:21:45] Unless it's at night

[00:21:46] Right

[00:21:47] You know what I mean?

[00:21:48] So it's just one of those things

[00:21:51] Plus, I really think like being able to smoke cigars or smoke cigarettes

[00:21:55] In a casino while you gamble is a big thing too

[00:21:58] And so I, you know, I know there have been pushback from a lot of people in Vegas

[00:22:02] And some groups that wanted to get rid of that

[00:22:05] But like that's part of the reason why I think Vegas still has an edge over everybody

[00:22:09] Because like they still have that

[00:22:12] Well, and it's funny too

[00:22:13] And then we'll take a break

[00:22:15] I want to talk some Christmas stuff in a minute

[00:22:18] But it's funny too because like even some of our casinos here have been building smoking patios and stuff like

[00:22:25] Like I didn't realize that that was that big of a deal

[00:22:27] But to a lot of gamblers it is

[00:22:30] Oh yeah, because you know a lot of people get stressed when they gamble

[00:22:33] So they want a cigarette

[00:22:35] That's the other thing too, man

[00:22:37] You know, you need to

[00:22:38] You need free drinks

[00:22:41] People like to drink and smoke when they gamble

[00:22:44] Whether it's a stress thing

[00:22:45] Whether it's just, you know, knock the edge off

[00:22:47] People like to do that

[00:22:48] At the casino in Cleveland, you have to pay for your drinks

[00:22:51] Which is like

[00:22:53] Not great, but that's another reason why I don't like it

[00:22:56] But I won't trash anything in Cleveland

[00:22:59] But that's part of the reason why I don't like the casino in Cleveland

[00:23:02] And it, not because I don't drink when I gamble

[00:23:05] But I like to be around people who are not uptight

[00:23:09] Yeah

[00:23:10] Because it makes the energy feel better

[00:23:12] So, you know, that's part of the reason why I like Vegas still

[00:23:16] Because, you know, everybody is loose

[00:23:17] Some guys are drunk and here in Cleveland

[00:23:21] People are like, I want to get a drink

[00:23:24] But do I want to pay, you know, $15 for a vodka soda?

[00:23:28] Yeah, because not only are they charging

[00:23:31] They charging full price

[00:23:33] They are? Are they really charging?

[00:23:35] Is it really that expensive?

[00:23:37] Yeah, it's like a regular

[00:23:39] You got to pay for drinks in Columbus, I think, too

[00:23:41] Yeah, you have to pay for drinks in Ohio, period

[00:23:45] The state, like, made sure that the casinos and the racinos weren't allowed to get free drinks

[00:23:55] Which I agree with you

[00:23:57] I think that should be changed

[00:23:59] Right

[00:24:00] Now, unlike you

[00:24:02] I normally don't drink when I gamble

[00:24:04] If anything, I might have one drink to just sip on

[00:24:08] Other than that, like, I'm not

[00:24:10] I'm not drinking heavily while I'm gambling for obvious reasons

[00:24:15] Right

[00:24:16] But it does

[00:24:17] It adds to the

[00:24:18] It adds to the ambiance

[00:24:19] You know what I mean?

[00:24:20] So, yeah, we'll

[00:24:22] We may have to talk to somebody about that

[00:24:24] See if we can get that law changed

[00:24:27] I have to call a couple folks

[00:24:31] Alright, stay tuned

[00:24:33] We're gonna do some Christmas talk when we come back here on The Outlaws

[00:24:36] Real conversations

[00:24:45] We got the heat

[00:24:46] Hell yeah

[00:24:48] This is The Outlaws Radio Show

[00:24:54] Welcome back, welcome back

[00:24:55] You're listening to The Outlaws

[00:24:57] And I have one question

[00:25:00] That I wanna ask both of my co-hosts here

[00:25:06] Robin, I'm gonna start with you

[00:25:08] What is your best memory?

[00:25:12] Your best Christmas memory

[00:25:14] As a child, as an adult, any period of time of your life

[00:25:17] What's your best Christmas memory?

[00:25:20] Oh

[00:25:20] Um

[00:25:23] I think as a child

[00:25:25] There's one in particular one where

[00:25:28] My mom and my dad actually

[00:25:31] Like this really big present

[00:25:33] You know, back in the 90s

[00:25:35] And

[00:25:36] The underneath the tree was more filled

[00:25:39] Right

[00:25:42] But, so there was a particular gift that my mom and my dad had gotten

[00:25:47] Like they really

[00:25:49] Um

[00:25:51] They did everything they could to get

[00:25:53] This present

[00:25:55] Um

[00:25:56] So it was for me and my sister

[00:25:58] And it was like one of those pool tables

[00:26:00] That she had, they had got for us

[00:26:02] That where you can like reverse it from like a pool table

[00:26:04] To like an air hockey

[00:26:06] To ping pong

[00:26:08] It was like super, super cool

[00:26:09] But

[00:26:11] I think that is probably the best Christmas that I remember

[00:26:15] Um

[00:26:17] Yeah, that's probably the best, best one

[00:26:19] Because everybody was there

[00:26:21] Because everybody was there and we all like sat there

[00:26:22] The whole entire family

[00:26:23] Like everybody was there

[00:26:25] And we all sat there and played pool and different games together

[00:26:28] I would say it was that one

[00:26:30] Uh, Dante, what about for me?

[00:26:32] Uh, two Christmas memories

[00:26:34] One, when my grandmother got me this football

[00:26:37] It was like NFL regulation football

[00:26:39] She got it for me

[00:26:40] I had that football

[00:26:41] I mean probably from the time I was eight till I went to college

[00:26:45] Um

[00:26:46] And then the other one

[00:26:48] Was one time

[00:26:49] We was just down bad

[00:26:52] Like my mom wasn't working at the post office anymore

[00:26:54] So she was trying to go back to school and figure some stuff out

[00:26:57] And we, uh

[00:26:58] It was like

[00:26:59] Just not gonna be a, you know

[00:27:01] Not gonna be a Christmas this year really

[00:27:03] And, um

[00:27:06] A friend of hers

[00:27:08] Had came over

[00:27:09] And brought a whole bunch of gifts and stuff like that

[00:27:12] And I, you know, I was still pretty young

[00:27:13] So I was like

[00:27:15] I was under 10 for sure

[00:27:17] So, you don't

[00:27:18] You understand

[00:27:19] Like, you know, I understand what being poor is

[00:27:23] But it still sucks, right?

[00:27:25] Yeah

[00:27:26] That was one time where

[00:27:28] Her friend came over and

[00:27:30] It was just like

[00:27:31] Like they just really blessed us

[00:27:33] And I don't remember like what the gifts were and stuff

[00:27:35] But it was still just nice to be able to open up stuff

[00:27:39] Uh, and I just thought that was so dope

[00:27:41] And I'll never, like I'll never forget it

[00:27:43] But it was, uh, but I won't

[00:27:46] I don't remember any of, like

[00:27:48] Any of the gifts or

[00:27:49] If I even kept them or

[00:27:51] Played with the toys or anything like that

[00:27:53] But I, it was just like

[00:27:54] One of those things where

[00:27:56] I knew we were, you know, we were struggling, right?

[00:27:59] Because my mom wasn't working at the post office no more

[00:28:02] Um, she had picked up a part-time job somewhere

[00:28:04] While she was in school trying to

[00:28:05] Trying to, uh, you know, like I said figure things out

[00:28:08] And she ultimately did

[00:28:09] But it was just

[00:28:11] Like that year was gonna be tough

[00:28:14] And, uh,

[00:28:16] It wasn't, you know, like

[00:28:18] It was, I don't know

[00:28:19] So it just felt like, man

[00:28:20] It just got blessed

[00:28:21] And I'll never ever forget that

[00:28:24] When I, like I said, I was

[00:28:26] Younger than 10

[00:28:27] That was before 10

[00:28:28] So, um, yeah, that was a special Christmas moment

[00:28:34] So, it's funny

[00:28:35] Mine is actually a little similar

[00:28:38] Um, in this regard, like

[00:28:41] Um, and it was, I don't even remember what year it was

[00:28:45] Um, it was a while back

[00:28:47] Or, I don't remember how old I was or anything

[00:28:49] But it was one of them years

[00:28:51] It was one of them hard years

[00:28:52] When we were broke

[00:28:53] Yeah

[00:28:54] Like really, really broke

[00:28:57] And I wasn't expecting anything from my mother

[00:29:00] You know what I'm saying?

[00:29:01] Because I know we broke

[00:29:03] And you know this, you get to a certain point in time in your life

[00:29:08] Where you understand the situation, right?

[00:29:11] Right

[00:29:11] Like you get it, like you said, it may still suck

[00:29:14] But, but you get it, you understand

[00:29:17] So, I wasn't expecting anything from my mother

[00:29:21] And my mother, it was Christmas time

[00:29:23] And my mother found a way to get me like this nice, uh, scarf

[00:29:30] Because as y'all know, you know, I'm, I'm bougietto

[00:29:34] So I kinda like that kinda bougie type of stuff sometimes

[00:29:37] And it was like, it was such a

[00:29:41] It was a small gift

[00:29:43] But the, but the sentiment meant more

[00:29:45] Mm-hmm

[00:29:46] Than anything, because I knew she didn't

[00:29:49] I'm like, I was like, how did you even get the money to buy this?

[00:29:52] You know what I mean?

[00:29:53] Because I knew we were broke

[00:29:56] And I was not expecting anything from her

[00:30:00] You know what I mean?

[00:30:01] And the fact that my mother did that

[00:30:03] Because she was, as she told me

[00:30:05] She was like, I wanted to give you something

[00:30:08] You know, you don't forget stuff like that

[00:30:11] Right

[00:30:12] Definitely

[00:30:13] You know what I mean?

[00:30:14] And it's, um, this Christmas is interesting

[00:30:18] Obviously, it's the first one without my dad

[00:30:23] And, you know, a lot of people have been telling me

[00:30:25] You know, I know this is gonna be hard for you

[00:30:26] But, but, you know, what's interesting is like

[00:30:29] My dad was never really a big holiday person

[00:30:32] You know what I mean?

[00:30:34] Of course

[00:30:35] Like, you know how old I am

[00:30:37] That's why I just said, of course not

[00:30:41] Of course

[00:30:43] Real quick before I continue on

[00:30:45] Dante, explain to people who may not know

[00:30:47] Why did you say, of course not?

[00:30:49] I mean, he

[00:30:52] I don't want to do that

[00:30:53] I mean, he was an older black man

[00:30:55] Like, he just, like, you know

[00:30:57] Christmas is, you know, Christmas is cool

[00:30:59] You know, that's for the kids

[00:31:00] Right

[00:31:03] Probably like when he was in this

[00:31:04] I'm 55 years old, but I don't want to Christmas

[00:31:07] You know what I'm saying?

[00:31:08] Like, Christmas is for, you know, they had a

[00:31:10] You know, Christmas is for kids

[00:31:12] Like, yeah, you may get your lady something

[00:31:14] You better get your lady something

[00:31:16] Right?

[00:31:18] If you want to keep her

[00:31:19] Right, you better get your lady something

[00:31:22] You know, but mainly, you know, Christmas

[00:31:24] You're supposed to spoil them

[00:31:27] Christmas ain't for like no, you know, 35, 45, 55 year old man getting spoiled on Christmas

[00:31:33] You know, it's like that

[00:31:34] We, I expect, like, you take care of me on my birthday

[00:31:38] Right

[00:31:38] You know what I'm saying?

[00:31:39] Or, you know, Christmas, Valentine's Day, you know, the holiday that ain't for us

[00:31:43] Right, right

[00:31:45] That's how I'm sure if I look at it like that, I'm sure, you know, older gentlemen, you know, 40, 50, 60 years my senior would think that have even more staunch take, you know

[00:31:57] Absolutely, you know, you know, you know how older black men are

[00:32:00] So he wasn't really a big, a holiday person

[00:32:04] Like he was, his thing was more like Memorial Day or 4th of July because he was grilling

[00:32:10] Because we, something with some food where we cook it

[00:32:13] Like, you know, I realized my favorite holiday, like I love Christmas

[00:32:17] Christmas is wonderful

[00:32:18] I mean, as a Christian, as a Christian, it's, you know, it's the birth of our Lord and Savior, right?

[00:32:24] That's what we're celebrating

[00:32:25] So for those of you that really want to get technical, you don't, I'm not saying that's when Christ was actually born, but that's when we celebrate

[00:32:31] When we celebrate it, right

[00:32:32] But like, you know, my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving, if you listen to the show, you understand why

[00:32:42] Football and great food

[00:32:44] Done

[00:32:44] And you're surrounded by family, done

[00:32:47] Then the other one is 4th of July Memorial Day because we kicking it off, it's the summertime

[00:32:55] Everybody having a good time

[00:32:57] Oh yeah, and put them ribs on that grill

[00:32:59] On the grill, right

[00:33:00] Put them ribs on that grill

[00:33:02] And now that I'm older and like the grill myself, it's like, yeah, let me go get on that grill, man

[00:33:06] Exactly

[00:33:08] It's funny too, side note, it's funny too, like we all, like most of us men get to a certain age where we're like

[00:33:14] If we weren't grilling from the beginning, we get to a certain age where we're like, you know what, I want to start grilling

[00:33:19] Oh yeah, oh yeah, hey, you better get on, you better learn how to get on that grill

[00:33:22] You know what, and it's, it's again, one of the many unfortunate things about my father's past and I've been asking him to teach me

[00:33:31] But you know, my father, he ain't got the time or the patience to teach nobody nothing

[00:33:36] Right

[00:33:37] But I was asking him all the time, like man, cause I'm, cause I'm at that age, right?

[00:33:41] Where I'm like, you know, I'm about to be 40 in a couple of years

[00:33:45] Grilling is kind of like the rite of passage for a 40 year old guy

[00:33:49] Yeah, for sure

[00:33:50] Man, you better hop on YouTube

[00:33:52] Right, yeah, but that's exactly what's gonna happen now

[00:33:54] Or we gonna have us a little cookout in the summer and y'all gonna go ahead and do that together

[00:33:59] Absolutely, and we gonna, and then we gonna give Robin another cigar and try this again

[00:34:03] Oh yeah

[00:34:04] It better not be nasty

[00:34:07] But I just wanna throw out the real quick

[00:34:10] Dante definitely has that unk status

[00:34:12] You know, you know how he said he reached that age, right?

[00:34:17] So he, he, he just like, he just confirmed it

[00:34:20] Oh, with the grilling

[00:34:22] Well, look, you know

[00:34:23] Well, I love getting on that

[00:34:24] You gonna have those, those brown strappy sandals?

[00:34:27] No, no, no, no

[00:34:28] I'm, I'm the coolest dude, you know, but I'm still gonna get on that grill

[00:34:33] Uh, I'ma have my shirt open

[00:34:34] Like we, oh yeah

[00:34:36] I'm not smoke, I'm not a, I'm not drinking

[00:34:40] For the most part

[00:34:41] But I'm most probably not drinking

[00:34:43] But I've definitely got a cigar in my mouth

[00:34:45] Oh yeah, oh yeah

[00:34:47] And then we gonna pull out the cards later on

[00:34:49] You know, man

[00:34:50] Right

[00:34:51] So

[00:34:51] It ain't nothing like the 4th of July or Memorial Day

[00:34:53] Right, so that was like my dad's thing

[00:34:55] Like, other than that, like he wasn't really a big holiday person

[00:34:59] So it, so the holiday doesn't really hit me as hard

[00:35:03] Like, obviously it hits me because he's not here

[00:35:06] Right

[00:35:06] But what, what really hits me harder with him

[00:35:09] Is, like, I would talk to my, and y'all know this

[00:35:13] Y'all know my relationship with my father

[00:35:14] I would talk to him, like, almost every day

[00:35:18] You know what I mean?

[00:35:19] If I didn't see him, if I wasn't with him

[00:35:21] I was on the phone with him, you know what I mean?

[00:35:23] Like, especially like during, like the hardest thing for me wasn't even Christmas

[00:35:29] And I love Christmas, Christmas is my favorite holiday

[00:35:31] I just, I love, not only as a Christian, but also just the, I just love, I just love Christmas

[00:35:38] I'm a Christmas guy

[00:35:40] But my hardest thing, like, with my dad has been football season

[00:35:44] Because when the Browns started losing, we would pick, we would pick up the phone

[00:35:48] And call each other and cuss the Browns out together

[00:35:52] You know what I mean?

[00:35:53] That was our, that was our favorite past time

[00:35:56] My father would call and be like, look at these sorry MFs

[00:36:00] Like, you know what I'm saying?

[00:36:04] So, that, like, so that was the thing for me

[00:36:08] It's like the, like the everyday interaction, you know what I mean?

[00:36:13] Not necessarily the, cause he wasn't a big, he wasn't a big Christmas person

[00:36:17] Even though, like, he was one of those guys, and y'all know him

[00:36:20] He was one of those guys where he was, he had that tough exterior

[00:36:24] But he, but you go to his house, he had this big ass Christmas tree in his house

[00:36:27] Right

[00:36:28] With all the lights and the whole, the whole nine, you know what I mean?

[00:36:32] Yeah

[00:36:32] Now see me, I ain't putting a Christmas tree

[00:36:35] Cause I don't wanna take it down

[00:36:39] So, a Christmas tree probably won't be in my house until I have kids

[00:36:43] Because then they can take it down

[00:36:45] My father stopped taking it down

[00:36:47] Like, he would leave his, the last, like, before he got sick, man

[00:36:51] He left his Christmas tree up all year

[00:36:54] He was like, I ain't taking this ass down

[00:37:00] And I'll, see that's the thing about like, decorations

[00:37:04] I love Christmas decorations

[00:37:07] But I'm like you, Dante, I don't wanna take them down

[00:37:10] Like, the effort to have to take them down, it's a lot of work

[00:37:14] It ain't that bad

[00:37:17] You got, you got decorations up, Robin?

[00:37:20] Huh?

[00:37:20] You got decorations up?

[00:37:22] Oh, I definitely do

[00:37:23] Oh yeah

[00:37:24] Oh yeah, I done did my hallway ceiling

[00:37:26] I done did the living room wall

[00:37:28] All over the wall

[00:37:29] Really?

[00:37:30] The whole tree

[00:37:30] Listen, I went to my brother's house

[00:37:33] I went and bought some lights

[00:37:34] And I went to my brother's house

[00:37:36] We all did Christmas cookies together, you know?

[00:37:39] Yeah

[00:37:39] And I went over there, I said, Jay, I'm about to put some lights up on your ceiling

[00:37:42] Okay, y'all just gotta hang ornaments up there

[00:37:46] Then I redid his tree

[00:37:48] But the other thing though, like Dante said, you got kids so you can put them to work

[00:37:53] Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, I don't want them in my way

[00:37:56] Oh, you one of them moms

[00:37:59] Like, you one of them moms

[00:38:02] Get out the way

[00:38:04] You're not doing it right

[00:38:05] Hey, the kid gotta do a gingerbread house

[00:38:07] Are you doing the work for it?

[00:38:08] Cause they ain't doing it right

[00:38:09] Oh no, no, Darvio

[00:38:10] I will not, gingerbread houses are not allowed in my house

[00:38:15] Really?

[00:38:16] Yes

[00:38:16] Why?

[00:38:18] Because they're stupid

[00:38:22] Every time the battle against the gingerbread house and I lose

[00:38:26] No

[00:38:29] Oh, Dante, she must mean she's not good at it

[00:38:32] Right

[00:38:35] So we, no

[00:38:37] I've never done a gingerbread house

[00:38:38] Have you ever done a gingerbread house, Dante?

[00:38:41] No, not that I remember

[00:38:42] And y'all clowning me? Oh, y'all doing one

[00:38:48] That's gonna be terrible

[00:38:50] So like, why was it so bad, Rob?

[00:38:52] Like, what was so bad about it?

[00:38:54] Because when you put the icing on the edges

[00:38:56] Maybe it's just me and I ain't got patience

[00:38:59] I don't know

[00:39:01] But like, when you put the icing on

[00:39:03] And you try to get the roof to stick together

[00:39:05] The two little roof pieces

[00:39:07] And you stick it onto the wall

[00:39:10] And you try to get to all stay

[00:39:12] And the next thing you know

[00:39:13] It just falls apart

[00:39:15] Like 5,000 times

[00:39:19] So just, it's pointless

[00:39:20] And the next thing you know

[00:39:22] The whole thing ends up drying out

[00:39:24] Because like, it's a gingerbread house

[00:39:26] So you're buying it

[00:39:27] And you're literally just making it

[00:39:28] Well, attempting to make it

[00:39:30] For it to dry out

[00:39:32] Right

[00:39:35] It's stupid

[00:39:39] So, my next question

[00:39:41] And Robyn, I'll just

[00:39:42] I'll stay with you first

[00:39:45] So, like, we know

[00:39:47] For Thanksgiving

[00:39:48] Like, you know what the

[00:39:50] What the dinner situation is

[00:39:52] We all kind of know

[00:39:53] Like, the typical Thanksgiving food

[00:39:56] Is there a typical Christmas food?

[00:39:58] Like, food that you normally eat

[00:40:00] On Christmas?

[00:40:01] On Christmas?

[00:40:02] Oh, um...

[00:40:06] Usually...

[00:40:06] I guess it really varies

[00:40:10] Um...

[00:40:11] Like, because I actually

[00:40:12] End up going to different

[00:40:13] To like, two different households

[00:40:17] Um...

[00:40:18] But at my family's

[00:40:20] With my family, it's usually

[00:40:21] Kind of similar

[00:40:22] Like Thanksgiving and Christmas

[00:40:24] I think

[00:40:24] So, like, it's turkey

[00:40:26] Or if they want to eat ham

[00:40:27] They'll eat ham

[00:40:28] I don't do ham

[00:40:29] Um...

[00:40:30] But...

[00:40:31] Um...

[00:40:32] There's the...

[00:40:33] The sweet potatoes

[00:40:35] There's the greens

[00:40:36] You know, the...

[00:40:37] The mac and cheese

[00:40:38] Etc, etc, etc

[00:40:39] You know, it's all...

[00:40:41] I think probably the same things

[00:40:43] Yeah

[00:40:44] So, I'm just...

[00:40:45] I'm just curious

[00:40:47] Who making y'all greens?

[00:40:50] Actually, my sister

[00:40:51] She always makes them

[00:40:53] Really?

[00:40:54] And...

[00:40:55] Sad for me

[00:40:55] I don't eat them

[00:40:56] Because...

[00:40:57] It's made with pork

[00:41:00] So, yeah

[00:41:01] I don't get to eat her greens

[00:41:03] But...

[00:41:04] I love greens

[00:41:05] I know, it breaks my heart

[00:41:06] Every time

[00:41:08] I love...

[00:41:09] Every time

[00:41:10] Absolutely love greens, man

[00:41:13] Like...

[00:41:14] If it wasn't gonna keep you

[00:41:16] In the bathroom

[00:41:16] I'd eat greens everyday

[00:41:17] Like...

[00:41:18] I love...

[00:41:19] I absolutely love greens

[00:41:21] Dante, is there a Christmas food?

[00:41:25] Or...

[00:41:25] Like...

[00:41:26] Different than Thanksgiving?

[00:41:27] Or is it kinda like the same thing?

[00:41:29] I think it's pretty much like the same

[00:41:31] Uh...

[00:41:32] I'm not really a big turkey person

[00:41:34] So I don't really eat that for Thanksgiving either

[00:41:35] Unless it's...

[00:41:37] Unless it's like fried turkey

[00:41:38] Like the fried turkey

[00:41:40] Yeah

[00:41:40] I don't really think there's like a

[00:41:43] We eat this on Christmas

[00:41:45] I don't really...

[00:41:47] The only thing that I can associate with it

[00:41:50] Robin mentioned it

[00:41:51] And I do eat it

[00:41:52] Is like...

[00:41:53] Ham...

[00:41:54] Like glazed ham

[00:41:55] Like that's...

[00:41:56] That's something that normally gets done on Christmas

[00:41:58] And sometimes you do that on Thanksgiving

[00:42:00] And sometimes you don't

[00:42:01] It depends on where you at

[00:42:03] Well, you know what the kid's grandmother made?

[00:42:06] Um...

[00:42:07] So their nana...

[00:42:08] She actually has been more so actually making homemade

[00:42:11] Like homemade chicken noodle soup

[00:42:14] Chili...

[00:42:14] Things like that

[00:42:15] Like she likes to switch it up

[00:42:17] Instead of it just being the basic...

[00:42:19] You know, the basic foods that everybody ends up making

[00:42:23] Right...

[00:42:23] And honestly, it's...

[00:42:25] It's nice to have a little switch up in between

[00:42:28] Because like I said, I go to different households

[00:42:32] Um...

[00:42:32] For two different...

[00:42:33] So you be...

[00:42:33] So if they didn't switch up, you be eating the same thing

[00:42:37] Yeah...

[00:42:38] Yeah...

[00:42:38] So I got a little switch up, you know

[00:42:40] Okay, cool...

[00:42:41] This balance

[00:42:44] Well, that brings me to another question

[00:42:45] Dottie, are you a traditionalist?

[00:42:47] Like for Thanksgiving and Christmas

[00:42:49] Or would you like a switch up like Robin was telling me about?

[00:42:52] Oh no, we...

[00:42:53] Me and my mom do what we want to do on Thanksgiving

[00:42:55] We...

[00:42:56] Like we...

[00:42:57] We eat what we want

[00:42:58] So like...

[00:42:59] She'll do macaroni and cheese for sure

[00:43:01] Because it's good

[00:43:03] Right...

[00:43:04] She'll make greens

[00:43:05] But like...

[00:43:06] We don't do turkey

[00:43:07] Like I said, I've only eaten turkey like four times on Thanksgiving

[00:43:11] And that's because it was a...

[00:43:14] And that's because it was the...

[00:43:15] You know, like the deep fried turkey

[00:43:17] Yeah...

[00:43:18] For Thanksgiving

[00:43:19] Y'all gonna laugh at this

[00:43:20] We do...

[00:43:21] We do ribs

[00:43:22] Oh really?

[00:43:23] Yeah...

[00:43:23] I've known some people that do ribs for Thanksgiving too

[00:43:25] We do ribs

[00:43:26] Cause it's like...

[00:43:27] I mean, that's what we like

[00:43:28] It wouldn't make no sense to get no 18 pound turkey

[00:43:30] When nobody...

[00:43:31] You know, nobody that's gonna come over eat turkey

[00:43:35] Right...

[00:43:35] You know what I'm saying?

[00:43:36] Like we...

[00:43:36] We buy that to waste it

[00:43:37] We...

[00:43:38] Get these slabs of ribs

[00:43:41] We do

[00:43:42] That's the second time he done said this

[00:43:44] We don't have ribs

[00:43:46] Any time I have to get some ribs

[00:43:49] Alright...

[00:43:50] So you know, I'm definitely...

[00:43:51] I'm not a traditionalist when it comes to any of that

[00:43:53] Any...

[00:43:54] Like I'll eat...

[00:43:55] I'll eat turkey

[00:43:57] But it gotta be me, right?

[00:43:58] Cause you know, sometimes turkey is dry

[00:44:00] That's why...

[00:44:01] The only time I've ever had a good turkey was when it was deep fried

[00:44:04] I've never had a turkey that was in the oven that was good

[00:44:06] I actually just had some like that

[00:44:08] And it was actually really good

[00:44:10] Really?

[00:44:11] I don't even eat it anymore

[00:44:12] Somebody...

[00:44:13] If I find out you put the turkey in the oven

[00:44:14] I'm cool

[00:44:17] I'll take everything else

[00:44:19] Cause it'll be like...

[00:44:20] Sometimes like it's just...

[00:44:22] It's so dry

[00:44:24] Not really super...

[00:44:26] I'll take some brisket

[00:44:28] Yeah...

[00:44:29] Yeah, I'll eat brisket

[00:44:30] You eat brisket, Nancy?

[00:44:31] Yeah, but that's...

[00:44:32] I mean, what is brisket?

[00:44:33] That's beef, right?

[00:44:34] Mm-hmm

[00:44:35] Yeah...

[00:44:36] You don't have brisket for Thanksgiving?

[00:44:39] Yeah, I did

[00:44:40] Oh, that's fine

[00:44:40] Not this year

[00:44:42] Last year

[00:44:43] Last year, yeah

[00:44:44] Mm-hmm

[00:44:45] Brisket

[00:44:46] Yeah, I'm not...

[00:44:47] Outside of like turkey

[00:44:48] If it's meat

[00:44:51] I'm generally not gonna say no

[00:44:53] Pause

[00:44:54] But like I...

[00:44:55] For the most part

[00:44:57] It ain't no type of

[00:44:59] Like no type of meat that I'm gonna be like

[00:45:02] Nah, I'm good

[00:45:03] I might at least try it

[00:45:05] Of course

[00:45:05] Right

[00:45:06] I'm a carnivore

[00:45:07] If I could be man

[00:45:08] I have...

[00:45:09] You know, I'm a carnivore

[00:45:10] If it wouldn't kill me

[00:45:12] I wouldn't even eat no vegetables man

[00:45:14] Or cattle

[00:45:18] Alright, stay tuned

[00:45:20] When we come back

[00:45:21] We're gonna wrap up 2024

[00:45:22] You're listening to The Outlaws

[00:45:30] Welcome back to The Outlaws

[00:45:35] Radio Show

[00:45:36] Welcome back, welcome back

[00:45:37] Make sure that you subscribe to the show

[00:45:39] On Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart

[00:45:41] Or wherever you get your podcasts

[00:45:43] And if you listen to the show on Apple

[00:45:45] Please make sure you leave us a five-star review

[00:45:47] And a comment is very important for the algorithm

[00:45:49] And for those of you that have already done so

[00:45:52] Thank you oh so very much

[00:45:53] So as we get ready to close

[00:45:56] 2024

[00:45:57] This is the

[00:45:59] Last new episode of the year

[00:46:01] We will have some

[00:46:02] Couple other episodes that are already in the can

[00:46:05] That drop

[00:46:07] Closing out 2024

[00:46:08] And going into 2025

[00:46:11] But this is

[00:46:12] The last new episode

[00:46:15] With the three of us

[00:46:16] For 2024

[00:46:18] There's two

[00:46:20] Questions that I'm gonna ask

[00:46:21] To close it out

[00:46:23] Ask my compadres here

[00:46:25] First of all

[00:46:26] Dante

[00:46:27] What do you think the biggest story

[00:46:29] Of 2024 was?

[00:46:31] Oh boy

[00:46:34] Well we had an election

[00:46:35] We had a presidential election in 2024

[00:46:38] And

[00:46:40] That guy won

[00:46:42] Me that

[00:46:43] To me that is

[00:46:44] The biggest story

[00:46:45] You know he won

[00:46:49] That

[00:46:50] To me that's the biggest story

[00:46:53] If I had this

[00:46:55] That's probably the biggest national story

[00:46:59] Any

[00:46:59] Does anything come close to a presidential election?

[00:47:02] I'm not sure

[00:47:03] I'm not sure

[00:47:06] I'm gonna say that

[00:47:10] I actually think

[00:47:12] I think there is

[00:47:13] Something

[00:47:14] Maybe not as big

[00:47:16] But probably

[00:47:17] Has been big

[00:47:19] Probably the P. Diddy story

[00:47:22] Yeah

[00:47:23] Yeah I can see that

[00:47:25] Because it's still ongoing

[00:47:27] Right

[00:47:28] I can see that

[00:47:29] And by the way

[00:47:30] We're not gonna

[00:47:31] We're not going to

[00:47:32] Turn this segment into a talk

[00:47:34] Into a conversation about that

[00:47:36] But I just wanna

[00:47:36] Add this to those of you

[00:47:38] Who are listening

[00:47:38] As you see some of the new developments

[00:47:40] Not regarding Diddy specifically

[00:47:43] But regarding allegations

[00:47:44] That were dragging other people in it

[00:47:46] This is why I say

[00:47:47] Keep your mouth shut

[00:47:48] And let the facts play out

[00:47:50] Because that most recent lawsuit

[00:47:52] Is completely and totally

[00:47:54] Falling apart

[00:47:55] But yes

[00:47:56] That is a

[00:47:57] I do agree with you Robin

[00:47:59] That is a

[00:48:00] A good candidate

[00:48:01] For top story of 2024

[00:48:04] But I have to agree with Dante

[00:48:06] I think

[00:48:07] Trump's comeback

[00:48:09] Is

[00:48:09] First of all

[00:48:11] It was

[00:48:13] If you really look at

[00:48:16] What

[00:48:16] What he had to do

[00:48:19] To get back in office

[00:48:21] And

[00:48:22] All the things that has happened

[00:48:24] I don't think that you can

[00:48:25] Ever

[00:48:26] I don't think you'll ever see a run like this

[00:48:28] Ever again

[00:48:28] When are you ever going to see

[00:48:31] A candidate

[00:48:33] Who was president

[00:48:35] Lost the office under controversial circumstances

[00:48:39] Then was involved in

[00:48:41] A speech that turned into a riot

[00:48:43] With his supporters

[00:48:45] Then was indicted on a bunch of charges

[00:48:49] Then ran for president

[00:48:52] Then was shot

[00:48:54] Then someone tried to kill him again

[00:48:58] And then he becomes president

[00:49:01] Like

[00:49:01] There were so many things

[00:49:04] That would be

[00:49:06] Like back in the day

[00:49:07] Would dominate news cycles for months

[00:49:09] That would just

[00:49:10] That would just like two day things

[00:49:11] And went away

[00:49:13] Like I don't think

[00:49:15] I don't know if we'll ever see anything

[00:49:18] Like that again

[00:49:21] Like Dante

[00:49:22] Do you think that we will ever see anything

[00:49:24] Like what we just saw?

[00:49:26] No

[00:49:26] The campaign leading into the election

[00:49:30] Was

[00:49:31] I mean historic

[00:49:32] For all the reasons you named

[00:49:33] Yeah this was

[00:49:35] To me that

[00:49:36] I was trying to think

[00:49:37] As it was like

[00:49:38] No I don't even really think

[00:49:40] We got anything close

[00:49:41] Like he you know

[00:49:42] First of all I mean on both sides too

[00:49:44] Like Biden has to drop out

[00:49:48] Right?

[00:49:49] Yeah.

[00:49:49] For three years

[00:49:51] I'm a transitional candidate

[00:49:52] I'm not running again

[00:49:54] Come on look man

[00:49:55] I'm an old man

[00:49:56] I just ran to save the soul of America

[00:49:59] I'm not

[00:50:00] And then as we get closer

[00:50:02] It's like

[00:50:03] Nah I'm actually

[00:50:04] I actually like being president

[00:50:05] My wife likes being first lady

[00:50:07] So I'm gonna

[00:50:08] I'm gonna run again

[00:50:09] Even though

[00:50:10] Every single

[00:50:12] Data point

[00:50:13] And every single poll shows

[00:50:15] That he would have lost

[00:50:18] Way worse than she lost

[00:50:21] So

[00:50:22] He decides he's not

[00:50:23] Like he's not stepping down

[00:50:26] They basically

[00:50:28] Rig their primary

[00:50:29] So that

[00:50:30] Nobody can beat him

[00:50:31] Or really run against him

[00:50:34] But then

[00:50:34] His numbers are so bad

[00:50:36] That they have to knife him

[00:50:40] They gotta knife him

[00:50:42] Don't forget he wet the bed

[00:50:44] And insert his vice president

[00:50:47] Who he

[00:50:48] He seems to actively sabotage

[00:50:51] As she's running her campaign

[00:50:53] On the other side

[00:50:55] Trump

[00:50:58] Cruises

[00:50:59] To

[00:51:01] Win their primary

[00:51:03] And gets shot

[00:51:05] In the process

[00:51:07] There was another assassination attempt

[00:51:10] In Florida that doesn't really get a lot of hype

[00:51:13] But that one was actually pretty close too

[00:51:16] It just wasn't on TV

[00:51:17] But that guy actually got

[00:51:21] Like kinda close

[00:51:23] With a rifle

[00:51:26] Fortunately they found him

[00:51:27] But yeah I mean

[00:51:28] The first one was just on TV

[00:51:31] And that could have been really bad

[00:51:32] Cause like we're maybe like

[00:51:34] Less than six inches away from Trump getting his head blown off

[00:51:37] On national TV which

[00:51:38] Like no matter where you stand

[00:51:40] That would have been really bad

[00:51:42] Traumatic absolutely

[00:51:43] Bad for the country

[00:51:45] If like

[00:51:46] Someone who got 81 million

[00:51:48] Who was president

[00:51:48] Then got 81 million votes

[00:51:50] Then got what 75 million votes

[00:51:52] If that

[00:51:53] I mean if he gets his head blown

[00:51:54] As like

[00:51:57] In disarray as the country has been

[00:51:58] That would have plunged it

[00:52:00] Into madness

[00:52:01] And then he goes on to win

[00:52:03] They have a debate

[00:52:06] I mean I don't think anything was bigger man

[00:52:09] The whole lead up to the election

[00:52:11] That whole cycle

[00:52:13] Was kinda wild

[00:52:17] Yeah, yeah

[00:52:18] I have to agree with you

[00:52:19] I don't think we've ever seen anything like that

[00:52:21] And I don't know if we'll see anything like that again

[00:52:26] Um...

[00:52:27] So...

[00:52:28] Cause Trump can't run again

[00:52:30] That's why

[00:52:31] You know, whether people like him

[00:52:33] I think that the cable news networks

[00:52:36] Even though they bash him

[00:52:37] Because when Trump

[00:52:40] Is in office

[00:52:41] Or when Trump is relevant

[00:52:42] The circus is in town

[00:52:43] That's right

[00:52:44] Some people like the circus

[00:52:45] And some people don't like the circus

[00:52:46] But you know, everybody is still gonna watch

[00:52:51] That's... I think, you know, he's

[00:52:53] If you are in the TV business

[00:52:55] He's great for your business

[00:52:56] Right

[00:52:57] He's gonna bring your ratings up

[00:52:58] No doubt

[00:53:00] No doubt about it

[00:53:02] Uh...

[00:53:02] Robin

[00:53:03] What are you

[00:53:05] Looking forward to the most

[00:53:08] In 2025?

[00:53:11] Oh, my comeback

[00:53:13] Oh yeah

[00:53:15] Definitely

[00:53:17] I think that

[00:53:18] I think

[00:53:21] No

[00:53:22] No, I know

[00:53:25] So

[00:53:26] For me personally

[00:53:30] Over the course of the last few years

[00:53:32] I have taken the time to

[00:53:36] Work on myself

[00:53:39] Um...

[00:53:40] And then this year

[00:53:41] I actually more so

[00:53:45] Educated myself on things

[00:53:47] More

[00:53:49] And...

[00:53:50] Taking the steps to get to where I know

[00:53:52] Like things that I need to know

[00:53:53] Like things that I need to know

[00:53:54] That I did not know

[00:53:56] Um...

[00:53:57] So...

[00:53:58] 2025

[00:54:00] Is gonna be a big one

[00:54:02] Is gonna be a big one

[00:54:03] For sure

[00:54:04] For all of us

[00:54:06] Dante

[00:54:08] That's a good question

[00:54:09] What am I looking forward to the most

[00:54:11] In 2025?

[00:54:15] Huh...

[00:54:15] I don't know

[00:54:19] Continued growth though, man

[00:54:20] My favorite thing that I

[00:54:21] Did this year

[00:54:22] Was I learned how to swim

[00:54:24] So I'm looking forward to like

[00:54:25] Trying to figure out a new challenge

[00:54:27] To tackle it

[00:54:29] But that was my favorite thing

[00:54:30] About 2024

[00:54:31] Huh...

[00:54:31] Well, yeah

[00:54:32] Looking forward to the new challenge, man

[00:54:34] You're gonna be one of those

[00:54:35] Breaking stereotypes, Negroes, huh?

[00:54:37] Oh yeah

[00:54:37] Oh yeah

[00:54:38] You gotta get over that fear of the water

[00:54:40] And then once you do it

[00:54:41] I'm mad Dante ain't tell us that

[00:54:43] You waited until the end of the year, huh?

[00:54:45] I didn't finish until the end of the year

[00:54:48] Crazy

[00:54:48] You ain't tell us

[00:54:50] I didn't finish until the end of the year

[00:54:52] Only like a few people knew

[00:54:53] But yeah, I mean

[00:54:53] I decided

[00:54:54] I was like, man

[00:54:55] I'm about to take a swim

[00:54:55] Cause I've never

[00:54:57] I've never been comfortable

[00:54:58] About bodies of water

[00:54:59] I've never been really comfortable

[00:55:01] Near swimming pools

[00:55:01] Like I've never

[00:55:02] I never knew how to swim

[00:55:04] So I was like, man

[00:55:05] I gotta feel

[00:55:05] First you gotta conquer that fear of the water

[00:55:07] Then two it's like, man

[00:55:08] Why don't I know how to swim?

[00:55:09] Like I wanna know how to swim

[00:55:11] So I figured it out

[00:55:13] Like figured it out

[00:55:15] Do you think

[00:55:17] Like is that

[00:55:18] Was that just like a

[00:55:20] Conquering thing?

[00:55:21] Or do you

[00:55:21] Are you gonna be like a water baby now?

[00:55:24] Well, primarily just to conquer stuff

[00:55:28] To accomplish stuff

[00:55:29] I think people feel better about themselves

[00:55:31] When they accomplish

[00:55:31] When they accomplish goals

[00:55:34] Especially for things that were hard

[00:55:35] Like in the beginning it was hard, man

[00:55:36] Cause I

[00:55:37] You know

[00:55:39] I was scared to try and lay back on my back and float

[00:55:42] I was scared to push through that

[00:55:44] Cause like

[00:55:45] You know, I don't wanna drown

[00:55:47] And my swimming instructor's like

[00:55:49] Buddy, I've been teaching swimming for 40 years

[00:55:50] I'm not gonna let you drown

[00:55:52] I'm like

[00:55:53] I don't know

[00:55:55] So like you gotta initially

[00:55:56] Conquer your fear of the water

[00:55:57] And then you gotta learn how to swim

[00:56:00] Right?

[00:56:01] So it's kinda two-fold

[00:56:02] If you ain't never really been in the water

[00:56:03] Which again

[00:56:04] I can tell you before this

[00:56:05] Like before this

[00:56:07] I had maybe been in the swimming pool

[00:56:09] Maybe like

[00:56:10] Three times my whole life

[00:56:13] I turned 30 this year

[00:56:15] So like

[00:56:15] You know

[00:56:16] I was not

[00:56:18] And that three times is like being generous

[00:56:20] One time I got baptized when I was a little kid

[00:56:26] Other than that

[00:56:27] I think I maybe got in the swimming pool

[00:56:28] Like on a vacation or something

[00:56:30] But like

[00:56:30] I've never really been in the swimming pool before

[00:56:33] So you gotta first conquer your fear of the water

[00:56:35] And then you gotta learn how to swim

[00:56:36] So

[00:56:38] I don't think I'll be a water baby

[00:56:40] But I will

[00:56:41] Hit the swimming pool for like

[00:56:42] Exercise and stuff like that for sure

[00:56:45] Yeah, yeah

[00:56:47] Like I've been

[00:56:49] Well first of all

[00:56:50] Did you learn in a pool?

[00:56:51] Or did you learn in the lake?

[00:56:52] No, I learned in a pool

[00:56:53] I ain't even in that lake

[00:56:55] I don't get

[00:56:56] Bro, I'm not getting in no body of water

[00:56:59] That has animals

[00:57:01] That are bigger than me

[00:57:03] Swim better than me

[00:57:04] No

[00:57:06] No chance

[00:57:07] When I go on vacation

[00:57:08] I'm not getting in the ocean

[00:57:10] I'm not getting in that lake

[00:57:12] No, if it's an animal in that water

[00:57:14] That's bigger than me

[00:57:15] And can swim better than me

[00:57:17] I'm not getting in

[00:57:19] Guess what?

[00:57:19] I can't see them coming

[00:57:20] Right

[00:57:21] It ain't sharks or man-eaters in the lake

[00:57:24] But no, I don't know what's out there

[00:57:26] Right

[00:57:27] Something out there, right?

[00:57:29] Something bigger than me out there

[00:57:30] I ain't...

[00:57:31] Nah

[00:57:34] Right

[00:57:34] And

[00:57:35] And

[00:57:36] So for me

[00:57:39] I think

[00:57:40] Pretty much like everybody was saying

[00:57:42] Man, growth

[00:57:43] I'm really excited

[00:57:44] I'm really looking forward to

[00:57:47] What

[00:57:48] 2025 holds

[00:57:50] I kind of need a reset

[00:57:51] Because 2024

[00:57:54] 2024 was such a weird mix for me

[00:57:58] Because it's like

[00:58:00] There were professional highs and personal lows

[00:58:04] It was all mixed in at the same time

[00:58:06] Where, you know, the beginning of the year

[00:58:08] It was the first time I was published in Newsweek

[00:58:12] The physical magazine

[00:58:14] And

[00:58:15] Also at the beginning of the year

[00:58:17] Cleveland Magazine named me one of

[00:58:19] Cleveland's most interesting people

[00:58:21] And all those sorts of things

[00:58:23] Things that were really, really good

[00:58:25] And then, you know, I think by like March

[00:58:28] March or April

[00:58:30] My mother and I got sick

[00:58:32] And she was sick for a month, basically

[00:58:35] Off and off a month

[00:58:36] And then by the time she got better

[00:58:39] My father got sick

[00:58:41] And, you know, we all know what eventually happened there

[00:58:45] So, you know, 2024 was

[00:58:50] was a mixed bag for me

[00:58:52] So I'm looking forward to the reset

[00:58:54] I'm looking forward to what's next for our show

[00:58:59] We've been

[00:59:00] Seeing, by the way, we appreciate everybody

[00:59:02] Who's been subscribing to our YouTube channel

[00:59:04] By the way, the numbers are

[00:59:06] Really growing significantly very quickly

[00:59:10] And that's going to be a place that hosts

[00:59:14] You know, a lot of our biggest interviews

[00:59:16] And that's another thing too

[00:59:18] Like when I've told you guys this off the air

[00:59:21] When, you know, I was working on our YouTube channel

[00:59:24] And just going through our archives

[00:59:25] And, you know, looking at all of the people

[00:59:27] That we've been able to talk to

[00:59:30] All of the big, important voices

[00:59:33] That have, you know, taken the time to be on this platform

[00:59:38] As we saw also on our new website

[00:59:41] There's a section

[00:59:43] And says in the news

[00:59:45] And it categorizes all of the different times

[00:59:49] That this show has been mentioned in the news

[00:59:53] Another professional high this year

[00:59:55] Was Robin went viral

[00:59:58] From this show

[01:00:00] Something that was said on this show

[01:00:03] So those things are obviously

[01:00:05] Very encouraging

[01:00:07] I'm looking forward to

[01:00:10] Seeing what's next

[01:00:11] And just moving forward

[01:00:15] And continued growth

[01:00:16] So that is what I am looking forward to

[01:00:21] And as we close this out
